I tried to watch Olympics men's volleyball this morning this morning. It was boring. I turned it off to watch "Morning Glory" again (which is a really cute movie if you haven't seen it). Turns out I love the Olympic spirit, and I like to watch the sports that they pair in between the gymnastics coverage, but I really don't have any interest in watching 90% of the sports! I'm pretty sure that makes me un-American but oh well.
It was SO fun to watch the gymnastics. I am so proud of all these young women who have achieved the life-long dream of so many. NBC even did a story remembering the Magnificent 7 - it made me teary-eyed.
I have to admit though, I'm pretty sure I don't have it in me to raise an elite athlete. In gymnastics or anything else. The schedule, the stress, the cost - oh my! I give my parents so much credit for supporting me to do the thing I loved best.
Of course, we'd find a way for Indigo to do anything she wants. As parents we do just about anything for our kids, don't we? Luckily, so far her biggest talent has been to fit TWO binks in her mouth. Olympics, here we come!
She has also recently gotten good at repeating everything we say. I never realized how often I saw "wow" or how much we talk on the phone. She loves to be "on the phone" with her bink, a comb, a shoe or our iPhones. She loves to sing an is actually picking up a tune.....Great......I may have to become a stage mom. Lord help me!
